I shoplifted at least 100 CDs from the time I was 15 until I was 30.
I walked into Circuit City one day with a pile of Bob Dylan 3 CD Album Collections, and Deluxe Edition Elvis Costello dual CD pairs, put them into my backpack in the bathroom, and then walked back out the store. On my out, the police were making their way in to the store, with their senses alert & with the apprehension of a pair of guard dogs. I went into Best Buy, piled up over 10 CDs in the pockets of my jacket-coat, and walked strait out of the security modules they have at the entrance and the exit of the store, and out into the night. Once, when I was in the Annapolis Mall, I piled up a chest-stack of a dozen CDs, picking and choosing the best, choicest favorites, and then I walked out of the store. On my way out of the store, I glanced back at the worker/employee, and he was looking @ me out of the corner of his eye, taking a chug off of his coffee, turning a blind eye, a cold shoulder, a passing glance. In the Best Buy in New York, I gathered all of Johnny Cash's Greatest Hits, along with Barry White's greatest hits, and a pair of over-ear Sony Earmuffs, and just walked out of the store with them. I did this several times at Goodwill. Goodwill never really cared, but I'm sure they cared, at their heart of hearts, but they never did anything about it. These were not the only times that I shoplifted CDs out of CD stores/it used to happen all the time. One night, in Boulder, however, I got it into my head that I need to reinvest all of those old CDs into charity, and decided, on that night, to reinvest them all into charity/I gave them all back to Goodwill. I was planned to ride the Greyhound bus home to Savannah overnight, and when I got there, I took the time to go through all of my old CDs, choose the ones that I wanted to keep, and which ones I had originally just shoplifted, or whatever, and hand all the ones that I had originally just shoplifted, back to Goodwill. The man who accepted all of those discs, working @ the loading doc, was not even gratitude-inspired, or grateful enough, to shake my hand and say thanks as I drove off w/ my mom, and I thought: 'it would have been nice if he had at least shaken my hand.'
