A Basic Metaphor for Life and Death

WELCOME

Proof to me that there will always be a future for us are scars, debilitation, the decay that comes with old age and aging. I believe God is a good God that wants for us to be happy. If we just decayed and fell apart as we aged, never to see a new start, a bright beginning, that would be entirely unfair, and I believe that everything He does is fair. Life does not partake of the finite. How many times have you heard that your potential is infinite? When you die, your spirit goes to another dimension, but it does not end, and eternity comes around for a loop. Eventually you'll be born again as a baby. When you are dead, you have no sense of time, no sense of any time passing at all. You pass through a whole eon without having any conscious awareness of it at all. When you're unconscious, you have no perception of time, so that the 'time' when you are dead will pass as a zip, as no time at all. If it had any conscious recollection, the soul that has just been born into a baby's body would remember the last moment that it was alive in its previous body, at the end of its last life. There is no sense of any time passing, no conscious gap, no conscious awareness of the whole eon that has passed in between lives.

A good metaphor for life and the 'death' that accompanies it is a diamond ring. The death that one unconsciously passes through is the band, and the diamond itself represents each 'life' that we live here on earth. As your perspective of the diamond changes, so the light that is refracted changes. Your view of the diamond, and what kind of light you shine on it, alters the image that you see. This is a metaphor for how the circumstances of your birth are alterable, leading to a different life each time, better or worse, more or less interesting.
I've heard most people fear death because they fear the unknown. They fear oblivion, and annihilation. Well, like I said, I think scars and the fact that our minds and bodies deteriorate as we age is proof that we will live again after we die. It would be a cruel joke on God's part to set it up such that as we approach death we only become weaker and weaker, never to be recompensed with a bright beginning for the suffering we have undergone. Everything in nature works in cycles: the seasons of the year, the food chain, reproduction. It just stands to logic that life itself—consciousness itself—would work in the same way.

Cheers.
