There is a certain power in reading. When you read, you're immersing yourself in another world created by another person's imagination. You get to take a trip- a guided tour- of ideas and images you never would have thought of all by yourself. 

The Secret teaches that whatever you think about, you bring about. Whatever you want, there is a book about it. If you want to get rich, then read the book about getting rich; you will be spending prolonged periods of time meditating on getting rich. If you want love, then read the book about love. If you want sex, then read the book about sex. You will be meditating on getting rich, love, or sex; you will be concentrating your mind on it through the string of words that the author has provided.

A book is really just a list of words. The best books all have a very well established theme around which all the words center. The book is like an instruction manual about how to think about whatever subject the author has chosen. If you want to learn how to think about anything, just read the book on it. The Secret teaches that our thought is the most elevated part of ourselves; if you want to master any subject, you must first know how to think about it. There is no better way to learn that than to read a book.

The Secret also teaches that thoughts attract like thoughts. The more you think about getting rich, the more you will think about it. Aside from doing the things themselves, there is no better way to get your mind on the wavelength of the subject at hand. And we all have to have some downtime, so why not read the book about getting rich while you're not out there doing it? And hands-on experience will never teach you about how the masters think about your subject as quickly. There is no better way to get inside of their heads.

I have said once that 'reading is talk therapy.' The bible teaches that your tongue is a very powerful instrument, capable of manifesting doom, or success. Follow the script of the book to get your tongue into complaisance with whatever it is that you want.

All of this is why I think that reading is the key to the kingdom. 

You will be much less reluctant to try something new if you have already read about it. If you can think correctly about the subject, then you can do it correctly, for thought is the most elevated thing in its relation. 

Therefore, master the thought, and master the thing. 

There is no better way than reading a book. If you really want to master something, then it would bode very well for you to read the book about it. For only many years of trial and error will teach you how to think about your subject, whereas you could get there much more quickly by studying someone else's thought about it. And as I said, there is no better way to study another person's thought than to read his writing.

If you want to vibe on success, read the book on success. It will teach you everything that you need to know.

Learn how to study books. There will be unending benefits.
