I need to take a lesson from the diamond and the pearl.
The diamond was once but a lump of coal that went thru years and years of pressure and heat.
The pearl was at first nothing but an irritation, a fine grain of sand that managed to make its way into the oyster's shell, and the oyster tries to ameliorate its suffering by covering the irritant with a layer of special fluid. Layer upon layer of this fluid is added until the lustrous pearl is formed.
I shouldn't complain too much about my suffering. I need to acknowledge that everyone suffers, and that my pain is leading to something good. Suffering is simply the human condition, or- as someone else said- life is pain.
