It's amazing: when you're a kid, when you wanna do something, you don't allow reasonable doubts or excuses to get into your head and prevent you from doing it. For example, when I was about 10 or so, my friend James Herrington was over at my house, and James and I had an idea that we would scare my sister... we decided to record a recording of us pretending to be grown men, burglars, stepping outside of her room, about to break into the house... James made slosh- sloshing noises, as if the burglar's boots were sloshing in the mud (never mind that the ground was dry outside)... we put the recording at the end of the tape... we were going to hide the cassette player underneath her bed (or maybe outside her window) before she went to sleep, and let the tape play to the end, at which point she would hear of two burglars that were trying to enter into her house and steal her shit. Never mind that the ground was dry outside. Never mind that the tape recorder would never sound like reality. Never mind that we two 10-year old boys could never imitate the voices of two grown men. We just pursued the project blindly, ignoring those facts. I guess kids are just that way.
