I arrived in Salem a week ago.
Since, I have found my reception warm & friendly. The town is congenial & hospitable. I have been enjoying myself here.
Just about everything is more affordable*, and there is no sales tax (in Oregon), so I don't have to feel so guilty about spending so much money.
I have been spending most of my days reading, riding my bicycle, playing the jaw harp, eating, and sleeping. I go to the library every day, and smile at the people on the street, who are more down to earth and more respectable to me than the Boulder regulars.
There is a little charge I got in Boulder 2 days (!) before I left, which I might have to ride back in the end of June to take care of. It is just a petty charge, so I'm debating on just ignoring it. I am talking to a lawyer on Monday afternoon to see how easy it would be to take care of quickly (the same day), so I could just ride back as soon as I finished in court, the same day...
I have finished 2 books since I got here (interspersing these with chapters of The Lord of the Rings...): Illusions: Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah, by Richard Bach, which had stilted writing, but was thought-provoking, in retrospect. I especially like the idea that a belief in injustice marks a breach in the soul; and the dry way in which he weaves into dream sequences. And The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum, which was quite colorful, quaint, & charming, and which entertained me, me thinking the enchanted Emerald City is the verdant city in which I am now residing...
I'm trying to find an affordable camper online, that I could park in a local RV park, and live in, for the cost of rent, $400. I found one, but the guy hasn't gotten back to my email yet...
*Everything except pot edibles, which are double in price– something which caught me by surprise when I arrived, and which has prevented me so far from buying any more than 1 package of them...

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THIS PIECE OF WRITING?
